Here’s a list of Possible Core Values organized by domain to help you narrow down the highest values for yourself and your organization.
WHY START WITH VALUES
I suggest you start with values because that’s helped me, couples, and countless organization I’ve worked with. Folks usually try to find help when they’re in crisis, but whenever we have skipped this values step, it comes back again to address in the long-term. After that, if you really ask for advice, I’ll try to tell you how I see things given my understanding of your values what sounds like a good idea and if some other approach would be better or quicker. But, once your Values (Worldview) is clear, you’ll be surprised how easy “decisions“ get.
MISSION vs VISION
A vision statement outlines a company’s long-term goals. Vision statements contain some of the same elements as mission statements, but they’re broader and don’t change. “We envision a world where everyone has enough food.” or “Enough Food, In the Right Place”. It will take lots of organizations working together to make the vision a reality..
The mission statement of an organization identifies its current purpose and method for contributing to the vision. The company’s mission statement should include information about the company’s purpose, target audience, and key offerings that are domain specific and practical enough to guide employees when they need to make decisions. “We serve veggie burgers outside the hospital in San Francisco each weekday to help working families feed their families”. Notice as your company grows this could change.
